A new year is upon us. As with the first light of day, the beginning of each month, and the birth of new year, we have the opportunity to wipe the slate clean and begin again.
As we get ready to clear out the old to usher in the new, it’s important to keep those valuable lessons we’ve learned this past year – despite the pain or gnashing-of-teeth, top-of-mind awareness.
The dawn of a new year allows us the opportunity to revisit our projects and review best practices, missteps, profits, losses, relationships we’ve nurtured, and clients we’ve added to our list.
Our business philosophy has never changed because that philosophy works. Simply put, solve the client’s problem and the invoice gets paid. Never forget the small things that provide excellent client services. This includes returning phone calls and emails within the same day.
Remain keenly aware of the client’s dream and the importance they place on their money. Embrace their desire for success and help them achieve that dream. Treat them with the respect they deserve. They do not understand our language, working rhythm, or the missteps they will make without a high level of expertise from us and a hands-on approach. It’s really quite simple: honor your word.
We are thrilled to be expanding further into the senior living market and in-house hospital projects. Of course, we are maintaining our high level of corporate projects and restaurants as well as high-end residential work. It’s important in these uncertain economic times to remain nimble and flexible, especially since we are a small firm. Ah, but make no mistake: we may be small, but we are mighty, and we have a great track record of proven worth.
We are energized by new interior finish technologies. These include specialty coatings on fabrics for greater enhancement of infectious disease control, and durable, advanced-wear flooring layers. These have the capability of preventing and hiding scratches, easier clean-ability with the use of fewer chemicals to maintain the products, and adhesives designed to help mitigate slab moisture.
All these advances translate into a healthier work environment, control of external costs which all relate to healthier bottom line. Not to mention a more attractive space for a longer life cycle.
To quote myself, we are not color pickers. We recognize the decisions we make on behalf of our clients relate directly to the growth and success of their business. It helps with workforce retention, attracting prospective talent, attracting clients and keeping them, and providing a healthy return on their design investment. In short, we are good partners, and seek to find the best solutions to fit their needs.

As this year comes to a close, we eagerly look forward to a bountiful 2017 and wish the same for our valued vendor partners, clients, and our country. We are still at war.
